Colorado Springs

presents Dance on Camera
in collaboration with DFA

Wednesday, July 15, 7 p.m.

Hosted by Patrizia Herminjard
Director of the Colorado College Dance Festival
at Edith Kinney Gaylord Cornerstone Arts Center, Screening Room

Program

Lello
Maya Craig and Mimi Cave, 2008, USA, 11m
A conversation-in-movement between mother and daughter. It addresses a mother's inability to appropriately support her daughter's needs, and comments on a daughter's reactions to an inconsistent parent. At times, the mother's micro-management is rampant, while other times she is completely absent and unavailable, lost in her own world of melancholy and overwhelmed by the simplicity of life. The daughter reacts to these inconsistencies and manic behaviors with excessive daydreaming, rebellious actions, appearing to ignore her mother's every word, but there's a quiet self-blame for her mother's sadness.
